Firefly The British chose to mount their excellent 17pdr anti-tank gun in the standard M4 turret, directly replacing the 75mm gun. This was a highly successful conversion, but there were never enough of these tanks to fill the need for them. Although these tanks were not officially called "Firefly" during the war, this is how they were sometimes called by their crews and how they are currently known, so I will continue to use that name here. Fireflies were used not only with the British, but also other Lend-Lease countries and Poland too. |
