Peddinghaus Decals Kit #EP2862 |

Peddinghaus apparently
has different lines of decals that vary in quality of
printing. I don't understand the reasons for this
variation, as it doesn't seem to be based on date of
manufacture. It perplexes me. The sheet being reviewed
here is printed to a significantly higher standard of
quality than previous sets that I've seen from
Peddinghaus. It looks as though they used a different
printer for the job. While these decals are still printed
on a continuous sheet of carrier film (so that care will
be needed while cutting the decals from this sheet), the
resolution of the printing is much finer, and the ink
seems to be of higher quality. The registration on this
sheet is excellent as well. It would be wonderful if Peddinghaus would use this printer for all of their new print runs, including reprints of older decals, as I have always enjoyed the subject matter of this company's products, if not always their print quality. Full-color instructions are included with this set, and consist of color photocopies of the pertinent pages from Oliver and Starmer's The New Breed, from which these markings are taken. <<Click on image for larger view>> It is difficult to count precisely how many tanks are included with this set, because many of the markings are shared between tanks, such as squadron signs and AoS signs. Meaning that, although this set provides the markings for upwards of 17 different Shermans, plus two M3 Grants, there are actually only enough shared markings that will allow you to build perhaps 10 of them?
