in Red Army Pt. 1
Colibri Decals
Set #72022
Article by Doug Chaltry; last updated 14 December 2017
This manufacturer has apparently been around for a while, but this is their first set that I've purchased. The title is self-explanatory: M4A2s with the 75mm gun in Soviet service. Some of the vehicles depicted on this sheet are pictured in the Comrade Emcha book, but most of them I've not been able to find documentation of.

The decals are very thin and sharply printed. I've adjusted the quality of the image below to better show the white markings. On the real decal sheet, the yellow and red are brighter. The only printing problem I noticed was that the clear decal film wasn't lined up perfectly over the "Saturn-like" markings, so a bit of the yellow may need to be touched up.

Markings are included for 12 tanks:

  • 8th Guards Tank Corps, July 1944: Nos. 764, 766, 745
  • 3rd Guards Mechanized Corps, July 1944: No. 704
  • 70th Armored Brigade, 5th Tank Corps 1944: nos. 50, 55
  • 3rd Guards Tank Corps, 2nd Tank Army, Romania, Byelorussia, July 1944: Nos. 38, 39
  • 3rd Guards Tank Corps, 2nd Tank Army, Romania, April 1945: No. 72
  • 1st Mechanized Corps, Byelorussia, July 1944: Nos. 149, 152
  • Unknown Unit 1945: No. 32
